Why an aged care qualification could be your next great career move
The aged care sector has been plagued by staff shortages for years, but the COVID pandemic has now caused the issue to reach a crisis point.
Lockdowns, single-site working arrangements and staff having to isolate due to COVID exposure are leaving aged care providers struggling to cover shifts.
In response, the Australian Government has pledged to create 80,000 new home care packages over two years and train 13,000 home-care staff. This commitment includes increasing the minimum amount of daily care time for people in residential aged care.
To meet these new requirements of care, Australia will need an additional 110,000 direct care workers by 2030. So, what could this mean for you? If you have an interest and desire to care for others, there will be plenty of opportunities to gain secure, fulfilling work throughout Australia.
Sarina Russo Institute (SRI) offers CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability) to help you get the job.
