Queensland Seniors Week
This week marks the 60th anniversary of Queensland Seniors Week (QSW). QSW held from the 15th -23rd August, celebrates the valuable contributions that seniors make to our beautiful state.
The Sarina Russo Institute (SRI) is a proud contributor to the Aged Care industry through our vocational education and training programs. Our students and alumni work tirelessly to support and cater to our elderly community throughout Australia.
SRI Students are given the opportunity to complete industry work-placement throughout their studies with us. Work-placements are sourced in-house with our Career Progression Specialist team, Joblinx. In the month of July our team assisted 50 students in securing vocational work-placements at aged care centres around Australia.
One of our students, Alex Serviano, who is studying a CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services and CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability) said,
“Working in the aged care industry is special and worthwhile in every way. You become part of a care team that collectively takes care of its residents. As the residents are long-term , you get to know them and their conditions much better than in other types of nursing positions. Everyone works together to learn new experiences and to provide the best care for the residents. It is a rewarding career and our Queensland seniors are a pleasure to work with.”
Without our wonderful seniors who paved the way for us we wouldn’t be living in arguably the best country in the world. Please join us as we celebrate and recognise all of the valuable contributions our elderly community has given us.
