Contribute your services to the community
Contribute to your community through offering your services for administering and witnessing documents such as statutory declarations, oaths, affirmations, affidavits and wills. This course provides participants with a range of skills and generic competencies to support them in the provision of witnessing of documents and certifying copies of documents within the community in Queensland.
On successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment from Sarina Russo Institute. The participant will make an application with the Department of Justice and Attorney-General (JAG) to obtain their Commissioner for Declarations Qualification.
Successful completion of this course is not sufficient for appointment as a Commissioner for Declarations. Therefore, you should ensure you meet the conditions set by the Department of Justice and Attorney-General (JAG) in order for you to meet the eligibility criteria prior to enrolling.

To become a Justice of the Peace (JP) or Commissioner for Declarations (C.Dec) you must be:
- an Australian citizen
- at least 18 years old
- of good character
- registered on the state electoral roll
- must satisfy the Justice Department requirements to complete this qualification
When you are making your application to JAG, details are required regarding all criminal and traffic offences. Refer to the disqualification provisions at the JAG website prior to enrolling into this course.
